A Yagi antenna is a directional antenna formally known as a Yagi-Uda array. The Yagi and other highly directional antennas have a high gain and are commonly referred to as "beam antennas."

A patch antenna is a rectangular shaped low profile radio antenna that can be mounted on a flat surface. Patch antennas are widely used because they are easy to fabricate, modify, and customize.

An omnidirectional (omni) antenna is one which radiates power uniformly in all directions in one plane.  When an omni antenna is placed vertically the radiation pattern spreads out horizontally and is doughnut shaped.
